Hormones
Hormones are messengers that function in coordinating different jobs in the body. They are chemicals and they flow through the blood to organs, skin, muscles, and other tissues, delivering signals as to what the body should do. They are essential for life and health.
In all, there are over 50 different hormones in the body that have been identified. Likely there are many more that haven't been discovered yet. They are released by several different glands, organs, and tissues, many of which make up what is known as the endocrine system. For this section, the hormones are organized by the gland, organ, or tissue that produces them.
